Angers, now&for ever

The Parks and Gardens

Enjoying an outstanding setting, Angers has been able to control its urban development and respect the quality of its environment.

Jardin du Mzil - Statue

Crossed by the Maine and located at the heart of France’s first horticultural region, Angers benefits from major advantages in the areas of gardening and the urban landscape.
With more than 40 m2 of green spaces per inhabitant, Angers, a Ville Fleurie, was awarded the Grand Prix National de Fleurissement for its flowers in 2003 and the Prix National de l’Arbre for its trees in 2000.
In Angers, gardens bloom with a floral magnificence, thanks to the horticultural tradition of Anjou. This green fabric is the setting of the everyday lives of the Angevins. It can be enjoyed in parks (Balzac, Saint-Nicolas…), gardens (Jardin du Mail, Jardin des Plantes…), leisure parks, and nature sites.

LAC DE MAINE

The Lac de Maine Parc de Loisirs:

Only 5 minutes by car from the centre of Angers, the Lac de Maine Leisure Park invites you to an outstanding protected world. It is impossible to sum up these 200 hectares of greenery and water in a few lines…
Discover the wild flora and fauna, walks beyond the horizon, individual or group sports, on land or water .. from swing golf to bathing, from tennis to windsurfing, from canoeing to orienteering … and if you’d rather tan in the shade with a good book, or just do nothing at all, go ahead…
