For its third edition, the Balade du Roi René invites you to rediscover the masterpieces of our world heritage. This year, the Apocalypse Tapestry, a large set of French medieval tapestries known for its size and powerful story, has been given a place of honour. Lights, sounds and stories will animate the best sites of the city of Angers, every Saturday night from 22 July to 12 August, from 8:30pm to midnight. You can start the evening in the place of your choice and roam freely...for free. A trip through the city marked by stops in places full of history and lights will set the tempo for your summer evenings. Emblematic places of the city such as the castle, Place Kennedy, St. Maurice Cathedral, Place du Ralliement, St. Martin’s Collegiate Church, Toussaint Cloister and the Museum of Fine Arts will welcome you warmly! Come along and see for yourself!
Each year, this international cultural event presents a selection of first works by competing young European producers. At the same time, the festival also organises public readings of first full-length scripts and scenes, master classes in film, discussions and previews.
An interesting perspective on the economy of the region. This annual event opens the doors to the region’s businesses and allows you to go behind the scenes and see the skills, the research and the production capabilities of some of Angers most important companies and organisations. Three weekends are dedicated to unusual demonstrations and workshops that reveal the traditions of manufacturing stretching back over the centuries. Festival du Cinéma d’Afrique (April, every 2 years), Angers
A festival presenting a selection of films made exclusively by filmmakers from Africa. It highlights the myriad of cultures as seen through the eyes of Africans themselves.
France’s second most important theatre festival, with approximately 20 open-air shows in some of the most spectacular historic sites and settings in the Angers Loire Valley.
Fête du Vélo (June), Loire Valley
Europe’s largest gathering of cyclists! One of France’s finest routes, the Levée de la Loire, is set aside for cyclists for the whole day. 140 kms guaranteed to be car free, 35,000 people enjoying the festival atmosphere and seeing nature up close. A fun and friendly family day-out, exploring the banks of the Loire and its villages - safe and pollution free!

Nov’art (July-August), Villevêque
For 30 years, the district of Villevêque has been providing the backdrop to a contemporary art festival with a difference. For the 3rd year in a row, these interactive performances come down from the walls for an outing between the Loir and the Château des Evêques.
Trelazé Summer Festival (July-August), Trélazé
A fanfare of exhibitions punctuated with high notes: jazz, baroque music, medieval music and songs, new music, open-air cinema, Fest Noz (Breton folk music) and much more.
Tempo'Rives (July-August), Angers
One of the high points in the Angers entertainments calendar; a selection of world music, classical music, dance and humour, in the company of performers and groups from around the world… 10 free concerts throughout the summer.
20th European Hot Air Balloon Championship 2017 (21-27 August), Brissac
The skies over Brissac Quincé is transformed into an aerial ballet as hot air balloons traverse the horizon with the Loire vineyards far below. Balloon rides are available and after the visual spectacle of seeing so many colourful balloons, you can enjoy a gastronomic treat closer to ground at La Rillaudée (on the Sunday), sampling rillauds, Brissac raspberries and a lot more! It’s an event not to be missed.
Les Accroche-Coeurs (September), Angers
‘All the city is a stage’! Angers presents ‘les Accroche-Coeurs’, a programme of live theatre, music, film, circus, dance and digital art taking place in all four corners of the city. Performances and shows are FREE and suitable for all audiences. Theme for 2017 : "So British!"
In the heart of Angers, the festival brings a magical cheer and warmth with its traditional Christmas market (45 stalls), Santa’s workshops, the fair trade village, live entertainment, screenings, shows, and exhibitions.
