- Citadel, Doutre, and historic Centre: From the fortress to the Cathedral of St Maurice, the Cité des Chanoines and its surroundings present several centuries of the development of architecture in Angers. You can wander down the cobbled alleyways of the Doutre district with its village atmosphere, and see its private townhouses and wood-framed houses.
- Angers, the Maine, Fountain and Gardens: Angers is known for the quality of its environment and its easy living. Cycle round the fountains and gardens and then along the Maine, from the Parc Balzac to the Ile St Aubin and the Basses Vallées Angevines (cycle hire from the Angers tourist office).
